Board President: Harold Rittner (2027)

My name is Harold Rittner and I have lived in East Pennsboro Township for 15 years and have 4 children plus an Exchange Student from Brazil. Two children have graduated from the East Pennsboro School District, and I have two children that are working their way through our system. One is currently in High School, and the other is in Middle School. East Penn does an excellent job of educating our children and I want to help maintain that excellence and guide it to new heights. I am excited to embark on this new adventure and would like to spend a moment and share my qualifications, vision and mission.

I have attended Penn State and have a degree in Business Management as well as having graduated from the IBM School of Managment. I spent 38 years with IBM in their Global Services division and spent the latter part of my career as an executive, managing operations abroad in Latin America and the Asia Pacific Regions. Once I retired from IBM, I then moved into the insurance sector 9 years ago.  I was the professional behind the professional and spent my time advising insurance agents and financial advisors on how they could best serve their clients with insurance products and services.  With this second retirement, I am excited to use my experience and knowledge to help our school system and community for the foreseeable future.

I am very excited to be a part of a team that will help develop well rounded, confident and responsible individuals who will pass through our East Pennsboro school system and be inspired to achieve their full potential as respected members of our community that will hopefully give back and inspire the next generation.

On a personal note, I would like to be an ambassador to the community, a bridge between the school system and our community and be an advocate of our East Penn school District.  I would also like to ensure there are ample opportunities for all kids so that they may be challenged and have fun with our school curriculum as well as take advantage of all of the excellent extracurricular activities East Penn offers.   I plan to be a steward for fiscal vitality, ensuring that we are using our taxpayer dollars wisely in a smart, efficient, and creative manner that best benefits our kids.   I want to ensure our school policies and curriculum are current and relative in today’s environment to ensure a safe, pertinent, balanced and intelligent way of learning.

Thank you for this opportunity to represent you on the School Board, I look forward to this exciting challenge and meeting all of you on this adventure.
