Sent to all District families via Blackboard email on Monday, June 7th at 10:00am:
The Acting Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) announced recently that Pennsylvania’s face mask order will be lifted on June 28 or when 70% of Pennsylvania adults 18 and older are fully vaccinated, whichever occurs sooner. This is great news and the announcement suggests that COVID mitigation measures imposed upon public schools in Pennsylvania appear to be drawing to a close. With this current guidance and at this moment in time, EPASD will be focusing its back-to-school re-entry plan (health and safety plan) for the 2021-2022 school year on these three expectations:
- 5 days of in-person instruction for students at all levels
- No mask requirement
- No COVID-19 vaccination requirement
Staff and students who wish to wear face masks as a mitigation measure will be permitted to do so and that will be by personal choice.
The School Board and the District’s entire administrative team would like to express our appreciation for the cooperation of staff, students, and their families this school year in complying with the District’s health and safety plan. Your efforts permitted the District to keep its schools open and continue offering in-person instruction. School districts will be required to submit updated health and safety plans to PDE this summer. We will share this plan with everyone when finalized.
We wish all of our students the very best and we hope for a more “normal” return to school in August. Until then, we wish you a relaxing summer with family and friends.
