Middle School Principal

Mr. David Frey

When thinking about joining EPASD as the Middle School Principal, Mr. David Frey was drawn to EPASD for its commitment to serving the community and students of East Pennsboro. He states, “I was drawn to EPASD because there is a chance to work with and lead passionate, mission driven people who want to make a difference in the lives of kids”.

Mr. Frey is married to his wife Gillian and has two daughters, Ariel (8th grader) and Michaela (10th grader) at Mechanicsburg Area School District. Mr. Frey is an avid mountain biker and tournament kayak fisherman. “In my free time I’m almost always turning pedals on the trails or a paddle on the river,” he says. He enjoys outdoor adventures and travel with his family.

Mr. Frey earned a Bachelors and Masters degree from Penn State University. He taught Middle School Social Studies for 12 years. Additionally Mr. Frey served as a Dean of Students and Assistant Principal at the Middle School level. Most recently, Mr. Frey has served Carlisle High School as the 9th Grade Principal for the past 4 years. Mr. Frey served on active duty in United States Marine Corps from 1988-1992 with the Second Marine Division. He was honorably discharged at the end of his active service.

When asked what inspires Mr. Frey he shared, “Working in the service of others is a huge inspiration to me. I find personal and professional fulfillment in helping others. I am inspired to do a great job because I love middle school age students and where they are in their life’s journey. I believe we can make a huge difference in the lives of kids if we work purposefully to make their middle years are a positive experience”.

Mr. Frey hopes to bring a focus that seeks to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of every student at EPMS. “I hope to build a climate at EPMS that is safe, supportive, collaborative, and kid-centered” he said. Upon entering his new role as East Pennsboro Middle School Principal, Mr. Frey’s focus will be on building relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring kids at EPMS are safe and that rigorous and relevant learning experiences are happening for all students every day.
