Updated EPASD Re-Entry Plan for 3/1/21
Below is the updated Re-entry plan (Health & Safety plan) for March 1. Our original plan did include provisions for all three phases of instruction but we needed to make some revisions/additions to reflect current practices and plans in place for the return of additional in-person students. We are still following what we call our Level II Blended Learning (Hybrid) model.

Relief Fund FAQs
Due to the additional and increased cost burden to schools brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, federal funding was given to each state. Known as the Elementary and Secondary Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund, this one-time grant was allocated to school districts and charter schools across Pennsylvania.
The emergency aid provided by the ESSER Fund is strictly controlled by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and can only be used for one-time expenses such as supplies, resources, and operations to directly combat COVID-19 hardship.
For a detailed list of funding constraints, as well as other FAQs directly related to the ESSER Fund, please visit https://www.education.pa.gov/Schools/safeschools/emergencyplanning/COVID-19/CARESAct/May2020/Pages/FAQs.aspx.
PA Department of Health Information
Information released 3.19.21:
- The new CDC recommendation is 3 ft for social distancing for elementary students within the classroom during any level of community spread.
- The new CDC recommendation is 3 ft for social distancing for secondary students within the classroom when community spread is not substantial (we are currently in the moderate level of spread so 3 ft is acceptable)
- Staff should still follow the 6 ft recommendation whenever possible.
- Masks must still be worn.
- 6 ft is still required for everyone during lunch or whenever the mask is removed.
COVID-19 Information for Travelers: As of March 1, 2021, the Order of the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health for Mitigation Relating To Travel is no longer in effect. COVID-19 testing or quarantining are no longer required for travel outside of the Commonwealth. Travelers should still practice appropriate public health measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 such as masking, physical distancing, and hand hygiene.

COVID-19 Decision Making Update
Our process for determining to move to Level I was as follows:
The increase of numbers of positive and quarantine cases came to light late Sunday afternoon. The principals report their knowledge of new cases to Dr. Price. As a team, we discussed and reviewed the most recent cases in reference to our decision-making tool Sunday evening. As soon as the presentation of this information was shared with the Board we communicated with families as well as other partner groups at approximately 8 p.m. We tried to work as quickly as we could as we work with data over which we have no control. A brief presentation will be presented at the School Board meeting on Thursday, November 19th.
We will be sharing the teacher, support staff, and principal data during the school board meeting Thursday, November 5th. It will also be posted on the website. Please keep in mind that we will need to review this comprehensive data, hold public discussion, and formulate recommendations after a thorough study of the data. No decisions have been made to make any changes at this time.
