POSITIONS:

Football – Varsity Head Coach

Position Summary: The Head Varsity Football Coach is responsible for initiating various aspects of the football program, such as recruiting within the school, scheduling opponents, off/in-season training, and coaching team members. The Head Varsity Football Coach is required to abide the EPASD rules and regulations.

Essential Responsibilities: Maintain constant check of student-athlete’s grades and conduct. Supervise athletes at all times. Set team disciplinary guidelines in accordance with EPASD’s Code of Conduct and Student & Parent Athletic Handbook.  Recruit within school, train, and coach the members of the football program. Coordinate the development and promotion of the football program. Assesses player’s skill and assigns team positions. Organize and schedule practice sessions based upon available facility time. Schedule games with the approval of the Athletic Director. Determine game strategy based on the team’s capabilities. Maintain and secure all football equipment and uniforms. Manage facility care and maintenance. Administrative tasks including making sure evaluations, equipment, and inventory are turned in on time. Maintain and submit accurate records. Hold a parent/guardian meeting with all student-athlete parents/guardians before the first official game. Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury. Represent EPASD in a professional manner.

Other Duties: Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal, Athletic Director, or other appropriate administrator.

Marching Band Director

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A certified music teacher, preferably with experience in the direction of marching bands.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Build and maintain a successful marching band and marching band program.
  2. Teach marching techniques, including but not limited to: marching, movement, drill, and field techniques.
  3. Teach music techniques including but not limited to: balance, blend, timing, intonation, expression, phrasing and technique.
  4. Hold and direct a band camp in August to learn the music and field show for the upcoming season.
  5. Hold and direct rehearsals—minimum of 4 hours per week (or the equivalent) from September to November.
  6. Attend and perform in the stands and on the field for the school’s varsity football team.
  7. Attend and perform at selected community and school parades, pep rallies, and the like.
  8. Keep accurate attendance records and assessment results.
  9. Performance at adjudicated marching band show or festival is highly encouraged but not required.
  10. Schedule transportation for marching band shows, football games, and/or competitions through the Director of Athletics & Activities.
  11. Schedule facility usage with the Director of Athletics & Activities.
  12. Utilize and care for facilities, equipment, and supplies under the guidelines set forth by the Director of Athletics & Activities and Director of Facilities.
  13. Relay pertinent information regarding the marching band’s accomplishments to the Director of Athletics & Activities and Communications Specialist.
  14. Follow EPASD’s Code of Conduct/guidelines for student discipline, eligibility, and supervision.
  15. Work with parent volunteers to build and maintain a successful marching band program.
  16. Ensure positive relations with all stakeholders, including the band booster club.
  17. Seek approval and schedule all fundraisers through the Director of Athletics & Activities.

Guest Teachers
The Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU) will be hosting a Guest Teacher Training Wednesday, September 4 – Thursday, September 5, 2019 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.  Upon completion of the course, Guest Teachers will be able to apply for an emergency permit through the PA Department of Education, which will allow them to be a substitute teacher in the schools and/or districts the CAIU serves.
