Exact Path Summer Learning (6-8) » What Is A Diagnostic Test?

What Is A Diagnostic Test?

The goal of the diagnostic is NOT to get every question correct. (In fact, most students typically get 50% of the questions correct.) The goal is to target each student’s academic strengths and weaknesses, to prescribe a tailored playlist of lessons, practice, short quizzes at their learning level. A student will see questions that are too hard for them, and they will see questions that are easy for them.

How does the diagnostic assessment work?

The assessment begins with questions based on a student’s grade level, an ability estimate from a prior Exact Path diagnostic, or a grade level defined by the teacher. As students answer each question, the assessment adapts to give them an easier or more difficult question. When all domains have been accurately assessed, the assessment will end. (This can be at different points for different learners.)

What happens after the diagnostic?

Immediately after finishing the diagnostic, a student will have a learning path to begin, with lessons, practice, and short quizzes.
