Superintendent Introduction

Hello East Pennsboro Community,

It is an honor and blessing to have been afforded the opportunity to join the East Pennsboro Area School District team as your Superintendent. The more I learn about the school district and community the more excitement builds for my journey as a Panther!  I have included a short video introduction, written background, and family snapshot for you to learn more about me personally and professionally. Please don’t hesitate to stop and introduce yourself if we cross paths in the school community.

I am truly looking forward to working with all of you!

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael Robinson

Background

I grew up and completed high school in Suburban Philadelphia. I lived with my father and younger brother, which was somewhat unusual for that time.  Prior to my senior year in high school, at age 17, my father tragically passed away and both my brother and I had to grow up very fast.  This is when my journey as an educator began.  As you can imagine, my senior year was difficult.  The supportive influence of educators, coaches, and school administrators was invaluable, and without that support, my personal story wouldn’t have turned out so well.  The opportunity to help one student or family at a time, similar to the influence that I personally experienced, motivates me each day to never take for granted the special role an educator can have in the life of a student or a family.

Athletics was always very important to me as a child and as a young adult which ultimately had a tremendous impact on who I am as an individual.  As a result of my positive experiences with coaches and teachers along with a love for sports, I attended Millersville University to become a teacher, play football and ultimately prepare to coach. Little did I know that Millersville would not only provide me a with great experience and training, but more importantly I was introduced to my future wife and a new lifestyle in Central Pennsylvania. After graduating from Millersville, we settled in Elizabethtown to support both of our first teaching positions.  Now almost 30 years later, we have made Central Pennsylvania our home permanently.  We have lived in Elizabethtown in the same home, raised 5 kids, ages 13-22, and attended the same church without ever having the desire to move our family.

After beginning my teaching career as Special Educator and football coach at Central Dauphin in Harrisburg, I moved to the Elizabethtown Area School District in the same role and then ultimately into their Administration as a High School Assistant Principal.  From Elizabethtown, I moved to my current position in the Cornwall-Lebanon School District, where I have served for 18 years.  My start at Cornwall-Lebanon began as a teacher and Head Football Coach then moved to the Assistant Middle School Principal, Elementary Principal and ultimately into my current role as the Director of Secondary Education.

Personally, my family has always invested in our church and the activities that our kids and family is involved in.  We love time at the beach, outside on walks or hikes, or simply engaging and socializing in the life of our family and friends.  Through all the twists and turns of life we appreciate all that we have. We are excited about the opportunity to be part of the East Pennsboro community and hope to make a difference and have a positive impact for many years ahead.

Thank you!
